Fair & White is targeted to darker skins whether black, asian or mixed-race heritage. Fair & White offer a number of different ranges suited to different skin lightening needs. This article looks at the Fair & White Original and Original AHA ranges. The original line contains hydroquinone, which I do not recommend for black skin lightening, but the AHA range is available for those who do not want to use hydroquinone based products.
Fair & White Original Range
The most popular product in the Fair & White Original range is the Body Clearing Milk. The milk will visibly fade dark marks and even out the complexion. It also contains vitamin E to enrich the skin and leave it looking smooth.
The exfoliating soap can be used alongside the Body Clearing Milk. The soap contains apricot kernel to eliminate dead skin cells and hydroquinone to combat hyperpigmentation.
Most products in the Fair & White Original range contain hydroquinone so be sure to check out the ingredients before purchasing. Although small quantities of hydroquinone can be OK for a short period of time, there are dangers associated with it. I do not recommend prolonged use of hydroquinone on African American skin. As with all products containing hydroquinone, if you do not see results after 6-8 weeks, discontinue use. Even if you do see results, you shouldn’t really use it for more than 6-8 weeks.
Fair & White Hydoquinone-Free Range
Fair & White also have the Original AHA range that contains no hydroquinone. The active ingredients here are alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and fruit acids. Rather than bleaching the skin, this works to inhibit the production of melanin (which is responsible for skin pigment). In addition, fruit acids help the renewal of cells – dead skin is gently exfoliated to reveal a radiant complexion. The AHA Body Lotion offers the same results as the Body Clearing Milk but using natural ingredients instead of hydroquinone. A facial lightening cream is offered in the AHA range and this fades dark marks with the help of bearberry extract (a natural ingredient) and glycolic acid to gently exfoliate the skin.
The exfoliating soap in the AHA range does a great job of removing dead skin cells with the help of glycolic acid and also contains lactic acid to inhibit the production of melanin to fade dark marks and lighten the skin. The exfoliating soap is suitable for all skin types and should only be used every 3-4 days. When the exfoliating soap is used in conjunction with the body lotion or facial lightening cream, results can be seen faster.
Fair & White Products are very reasonably priced in comparison to some of the expensive skin lightening products on the market. The exfoliating soap retails at around $11 and the body lotion at about $20.
